amelia is off on a daddy/daughter weekend, and though she's easy going and easy to care for, boy is it easy to have just one kid! at the end of most weekends, i feel harried and not much more rested than at the beginning of the weekend. the kids are usually a mess too--gaby's various rashes have usually flared up and sometimes, he doesn't even get a bath the whole weekend (which, thankfully, is actually good for his skin). this weekend, i was able to slather gaby with lotion every few hours or so, he bathed, i made a bunch of food for him, and i'm actually feeling pretty good! (maybe it's the two hour nap i had this afternoon.) we miss amelia and poppa a great deal--gaby was very excited to hear their voices when they called, but it was nice to have just one kid, for once.

it's true. life feels totally different with just one. peaceful. glad you're better rested!
didn't we get him one year old overalls? he looks great in them. he actually looks a bit like amelia when she was a baby in this pic...minus the unruly hair.
I hear ya. I find myself wondering if the addition of a third child will will have a similar effect on my perception of caring for two. Seems doubtful.
