red mango

so red mango is supposedly the "original" frozen yogurt treat from korea, spawning pinkberry and countless other copycats. we checked it out in seattle, and while poppa and momma prefer pinkberry (more tangy, less creamy), amelia displayed no less enthusiasm for red mango as she does pinkberry. now that she's got spoon skills, it's a bit harder to do portion control.

size comparison

amelia 11 days old vs. baby doll amelia 16 months old vs. baby doll

a bath, finally

amelia fell asleep so early yesterday that poppa didn't even get a chance to give her a bath. if amelia is anything like momma, i imagine that her smile has something to do with the giddy anticipation of being clean again.

and the winner is...

after many test drives and exhaustive inspections, poppa and amelia decided on what may be the frilliest, pink-est baby doll stroller ever. in poppa's defense, he claims that this was the only baby doll stroller with swiveling front wheels. amelia also got a pink princess truck thing from grandma kwon. despite the jetlag, she seems to be doing a great job collecting loot out there!

going for a test drive

poppa and amelia got a head start on thanksgiving--they're in seattle now, battling extreme jetlag on amelia's part. she's waking up at 2:30 am, sleeping before 4pm. yikes is what i say. here they are trying out toy strollers at the local toys r us:

this one has pretty smooth action: oooooh, wait, the safety features aren't so good.

self-portraits

last friday was cold and icky, and amelia and i largely stayed in. out of sheer boredom, i took these self-portraits. i think of amelia as being so big now--she can walk, she can practically feed herself, she has opinions and thoughts she tries to express--but these photos really reminded me that she's still just a tiny, little girl.

dancing with poppa

the return of the appetite

amelia barely ate the entire weekend. it was sad, and really frustrating to watch. but it seems things are getting better. here she is demonstrating her spoon skills yet again, and she's also singing and dancing. the singing and dancing part is subtle, but it's there.

olympic stair climbing

poppa kwong has come up with a new, semi-dangerous activity for amelia: the so-called "olympic stair climbing." what makes this an olympic-worthy event? we asked poppa kwong, and he explained, "the form that's required to scale the treacherous step, the sense of accomplishment the participant feels upon reaching the lofty heights of the first step, and the careful maneuvering necessary to descend from the peak." judge for yourself.

new winter coat

look familiar? it's basically the same style as last year's (which was a wonderful gift from jody and laura)--only bigger (of course) and with different fabric on the outside.

poor amelia

spent the entire weekend with a really runny nose, a terrible cough, sore gums (from teething), the occasional fever or two, and most alarming of all--no appetite. things seem to have turned the corner finally though. and she's got a great big molar to show for it.

moms' group halloween party

amelia had a cookie with black sprinkles on top on the way to the party. by the time we got there, the black stuff was all over her lips and she was transformed into goth bee. here's what she did at the party, consistent with her goth bee look:

sylvie: hi, i'm cute!
amelia: don't even think about touching that, kid. oh god, not another bee!
how did i get stuck on this sofa with all these babies?!?!?
