Funny story

The kids each have an ugly doll--Gaby has Basheeshee, Amelia has ChuckaNucka.  When we were in New York, the kids kept misplacing their dolls at Auntie Jenn's house.  On the last day we were there, Gaby managed to misplace Amelia's ugly doll, and kept wandering around saying, "Where's Chuckie? Where's Chuckie?"  We tore Auntie Jenn's apartment apart, desperately looking for the freaking thing.  Amelia was barely keeping it together, fearful that she would have to leave Chuckie behind in NY.  Finally, just before we had to leave for the airport, Poppa sat Gaby down, and asked him sternly, "Do you know where Chuckie is?"  Gaby said unequivocally, "I put it in Isabel's trash can."  And there he was--in Isabel's diaper bin.  So why didn't he just tell us that in the first place?  Who knows, he probably thought it was hilarious that all these grown-ups were in a tizzy trying to find Amelia's doll.

new york, new york

first and foremost, big shout-out to auntie jenn, uncle eric and isabel for putting up with us for a whole week.  it's amazing what chaos a family of four can cause a household.

we had a wonderful time. we saw many old friends that we've missed over the years, and ate at restaurants that we loved when we lived there.  the last time we were in ny, gaby was a little five-month old lump, and this time, he loooved the sights, with riding the bus and the subway on the top of his list of favorites.  (he did spend some quality sightseeing time asleep in the stroller.)  amelia loved it so much she asked whether we could move back.  when i asked why, she said because we have so many friends here.  another likely reason is the american girl doll store.
Gaby's first subway ride, as a big kid.  He seems a little apprehensive, good thing he's got Amelia.
Stomp around and carry a big stick.  (At Prospect Park)
Enjoying the fruits of an Easter egg hunt with Isabel!
Gaby's love of the subway, not sure what was going on with Amelia.
Lunch with Auntie Jenn and Isabel at Gam Mee Oak.  Best kimchee ever.
Tea at the American Girl store.  Gaby was the only boy there.  Poppa was one of two men.  They survived.
Sightseeing (the insides of his eyelids) at the Met.
Grand Central Station
Horse and carriage ride!
