a shout-out

to uncle david and auntie bo for letting us take over their house the past 10 days or so. we showed up to a completely pristine house, and within minutes, had blanketed it with baby crap. i'm not sure how we made this mistake, but we don't have a single pic of the kids with uncle david and auntie bo from this trip. ack! well, here' s a super cute pic of amelia with poppa:***
christmas is upon us, and amelia is obsessed. here she is helping to decorate auntie bo's tree. we went to various shopping centers in the seattle area over thanksgiving, and amelia went up to every tree we saw to determine whether it was real or fake. then she'd announce loudly, to no one in particular, "FAKE!!!"

nice pics of gaby and co.

by uncle david (except for photo #3).

the thanksgiving report

dinner: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, wild rice and chestnut stuffing, green beans, pecan and pumpkin pies. this picture pretty much summarizes how we all felt after dinner: bloated.

winter wonderland

we're snowed in, in seattle. it's pretty chilly, and we've come awfully unprepared, now that we're soft san franciscans. instead of proper gloves, amelia is wearing hello kitty slipper socks over her hands. and we just bought amelia that coat yesterday. nevertheless, we got out for a few minutes today to disturb the pristine snow in auntie bo and uncle david's backyard. amelia was throwing snow up in the air, watching it fall, and calling it a "snow parade."

four month stats

16 lbs, 8.2 oz, 25 3/4 inches tall. amelia at that age was just a tad heavier (16 lbs, 10 oz) and a tad shorter (25 1/4).

drawing skills

all of a sudden, amelia's representational drawing skills seem to have hit a whole new level. see below:

on being the second child

i realized today how rough it is for little gaby--his entire schedule is dictated by amelia. just as he was about to fall asleep this morning, we had to go to amelia's ballet class, so i couldn't put him down for his nap. he fell asleep in the car just when we got there, so we had to get out of the car, which of course woke him up. try as he did, he just couldn't fall asleep until class was just about finished, and we had to get back into the car to get to amelia's classmate's birthday party. at the party, again, he didn't fall asleep until we were just about to leave, and he was jolted awake when i had to strap him into the car seat. i remember for amelia we didn't leave the house to protect her various naps; gaby is lucky he gets a nap in before bedtime rolls around. and yet, he still manages to be a happy, delightful baby, with super cute toes, to boot.

he's come a long way

newborn babies are just so weird looking! check out this video of gaby baby when he was 1 week old.
he's still pretty spastic, but at least he's got some cute chubs and makes cute cooing sounds too:
