growth spurt

everyone who has seen amelia recently has asked if she's gotten a lot taller all of a sudden, and the answer is, in fact, yes. in the last two months, she's grown an inch. her pants and her shirts are all a little short. i think this photo says it all:

puerto rico: more than just a rainforest

here are some more pictures of our time in puerto rico; obviously, we didn't spend it all in the rainforest. here is perhaps the best picture of amelia and momma, to date, at one of the food shacks on luquillo beach where we sampled the famous "lobster mofongo." tasty, indeed! amelia drawing circles on luquillo beach:
posing with cannon balls at this amazing old fort (el morro, built in the 1500s, a/k/a helm's deep) that we visited in old san juan:our friends are the tiny ants at the lower level of the fort:exploring a tunnel:picturesque old san juan:
pool time, of course:
and much, much laughter and mirth:

el yunque

the rainforest. need i say more?

our little country mouse

before we went to puerto rico, we stopped off in new york for the weekend. two days is just not enough. so many people to see, so much to eat. we basically just went from meal to meal with friends. poppa and i had planned our food itinerary weeks in advance. we learned that our city baby and turned into a little country mouse. here she is covering her ears because of the subway noise:here she is totally overwhelmed by her old playground:

though here she is running happily through our old neighborhood chasing after her friend mac:

and here she is looking pretty fab with auntie jen at our favorite sushi restaurant in new york:

we miss new york dearly--our friends especially. that said, i think i'm turning into a country mouse myself. i've gotten used to sleeping in the relative quiet, the occasional siren, far in the distance. i guess we're staying out here after all.

the annual pilgrimage

poppa kindly indulges me once a year in a trip down to stanford. i'm trying to indoctrinate amelia into believing that stanford is where she wants to go to school. she's been responding well. she already announced: "i no want to go to darmuff [dartmouth, where poppa went to school], it's too windy there." here we are at the rodin sculpture garden: enjoying the view down palm drive:with momma in front of MemChu (memorial church, for you non-stanford folks):playing hide-and-seek in the quad:

mister bunny

has it really been two weeks since i've posted?! yikes, how time flies. anyway, happy easter everyone! our poor child is being raised so agnostic that she thinks its Mister Bunny, not Easter Bunny. despite my efforts to correct her, she insists on correcting me. regardless, we had a lovely easter, with an easter egg hunt sponsored by the cooper kims. we kicked things off with dyeing easter eggs (or are they mister eggs?):
And then off to the races:
